It's Fall Y'all

The calendar says we are a few weeks into fall, however our temperatures are not leaning towards fall!
Even though the sequential season order is Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring the weather does not always follow the order.
Humm...reminds me of our students when describing a book in sequential order, sometimes the end comes in the middle and the beginning makes its way to the end.

Materials Needed:
~ Clip art pictures (or mini versions) of:
leaves, shirt, pumpkin, pole, pants, rope, hay, scarecrow
~ transition words printed out
first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, before, after, next, last
~ Mini scarecrow
~ Book, There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves by Lucille Colandro

After making sure the mini scarecrow was hidden behind me, I laid out, not in order, the pictures associated with the story. During the story when we came to an object, we stopped and picked up the appropriate object and placed it in order. When we came to the last page, out came the mini scarecrow. After reading the book, we scrambled the pictures and brought out the transition words. We put the story in order using the pictures and added the number transition words. After we agreed the story was in correct order, we added the other transition words. We then asked questions like: What came after the ------ but before -----. What came first the -------- or the ------------, If ------ was swallowed what came before, If ---was swallowed what came next?
